No. 1 UConn kept the streak alive on Saturday, taking down No. 11 Iowa 90-64 in Brooklyn as the Huskies continue to run this season’s AP Top 25.
The 2025 NCAA champs weaved a tale of two halves in the victory, as senior Azzi Fudd and sophomore Sarah Strong combined for 50 points — Strong with 20 in the first half, followed by Fudd’s 21-point second-half show.
“That’s an example of why our team is so special — any moment anyone can go off and make shots,” Fudd said postgame. “We do a great job of playing unselfish basketball.” (Watch full highlights)
Big picture: While they aren’t the only team standing tall against top competition, UConn is averaging a 20.4-point margin of victory through five Top 25-ranked wins — and showing few signs of slowing down.
“We’ve had a lot of identities over the years, a lot of people are more talking about us offensively,” said longtime Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma. “We had to play the way the hand was dealt, we played a little bit differently. Now we’re back to were we play the way I like playing.”
Up next: UConn next moves into conference play, squaring off against the Big East’s Butler this Sunday at 4 PM ET, live on TNT.
Report: Houston Rockets ramp up talks to buy, relocate the Sun

The Houston Rockets are reportedly shooting for the Sun, with sources telling ESPN the NBA team’s ownership group has entered “substantive” talks with the Mohegan Tribe to buy and relocate the Connecticut WNBA franchise.
Discussions have been described as positive, with Houston apparently improving upon the $250 million bid put forth by the league in August.
However, neither party has signed a formal agreement, as the Sun’s longterm future continues to hang in the balance.
Big picture: The Mohegan Tribe began exploring a sale in 2024, with Houston emerging as a possible landing place after the WNBA reportedly blocked the Sun’s $325 million sale to former Celtics owner Steve Pagliuca — preferring a buyer with past expansion team experience.
Home to the four-time champion Comets from 1997 to 2008, Houston maintains deep WNBA roots as one of the league’s founding markets.
The Sun also fielded a bid from the State of Connecticut to keep the team local, though ESPN reported those talks had slowed.
Tricky times: Of course, CBA negotiations are further complicating any transaction — especially after the WNBPA voted last week to approve a potential strike.

No. 3 seed Texas A&M made history on Sunday, toppling No. 1 seed Kentucky 3-0 in the 2025 NCAA volleyball championship final to lift the program’s first trophy.
Down by as much as six points in the first set, the Aggies had to save a set point early before surging to a 26-24 opening-set win — and going on to lead for the rest of the 3-0 sweep.
“I just said, ‘It’s going to take one or two points, start to get firing, they’re going to be there,’” said Texas A&M head coach Jamie Morrison. (Watch full highlights)
