Dallas snapped a two-game losing streak last night, jumping on the Mystics early to secure a confident 92-69 win over a young and eager Washington side.
Wings guard Paige Bueckers dropped a game-leading 18 points, backed by four additional double-digit Dallas scorers while the host’s stifling defense silenced the Mystics’ top guns.
“We played selfless tonight,” Bueckers said afterwards. “We got out in transition and really moved the ball really well... It was a really good response for our team.” (Watch full highlights)
Scouting report: Dallas rookie Azzi Fudd put up her best numbers yet, scoring 12 off the bench while shouldering the Wings’ fourth-most minutes behind Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale, and Jessica Shepard.
“I think everyone was excited to see Azzi, and how well she played,” said head coach Jose Fernandez. “I’m glad that now we can continue to increase the minutes. She felt good.”
“My goal was just to be aggressive when I got in the game, contribute any way I could,” said Fudd. (See full report)

Fresh off its first WSL title since 2016, late-season injury and pending roster shifts are spelling uncertainty at Manchester City.
USWNT and City midfielder Sam Coffey underwent minor knee surgery last week, sitting out Saturday’s season finale while also expected to miss the US’s June friendlies against Brazil.
“Everyone at City would like to wish Sam the very best in her recovery and looks forward to seeing her back out on the pitch soon,” the UK club said in a statement. (See full report)
Taking stock: Three-time reigning WSL Golden Boot winner — and newly crowned Player of the Season — Khadija “Bunny” Shaw’s future also hangs in the balance, with the Jamaica international’s contract set to expire this summer.
“Manchester is where I would want to be, but we’ll see,” Shaw told Sky Sports, responding to reports that Chelsea offered the 29-year-old upwards of $1 million to transfer. (See full report)
Report: US Soccer proposes interleague matches

The soccer calendar might be getting more crowded, with new reports indicating that US Soccer and other domestic women’s pro leagues are considering introducing interleague competition as early as 2028.
The NWSL has apparently been involved in the talks, alongside the first-tier USL Super League and upcoming second-flight WPSL Pro league.
Formatting could also feature amateur and semi-pro clubs, mirroring the men’s century-old US Open Cup and England’s FA Cup.
Big picture: According to ESPN, however, the governing bodies are leaning more toward a shortened NWSL-style clash as opposed to a traditional season-long event.
It would likely be modeled after the pro league’s single-game Challenge Cup, itself an offshoot of a longer Covid-era competition founded in 2020.
“Details like format and structure of the potential competition are being approached with a blank slate rather than directly copying the men’s US Open Cup,” a source told ESPN. (See full report)

World Sevens Football is headed across the pond, as the $1.5 million 7-on-7 tournament posted its full eight-club field ahead of this month’s kickoff.
Eight-time WSL champion Chelsea will enter for the first time, joining fellow UK sides Aston Villa, Everton, Leicester City, London City, Tottenham, West Ham, and Manchester United for the event’s second European iteration.
How it works: The three-day W7F kicks off May 28th in London, with two groups of four battling in the group stage before each group’s top two sides advance to the semis.
“It’s a fantastic occasion for our supporters to see the team in action one final time before the players head off for a well-earned summer break following a demanding season,” said Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor. (See full release)
